Custom Leatherwork FAQ:

Q: How do custom orders work?

​

A: I offer a limited amount of custom leatherwork projects each month. To see if I have availability please use the form to the right, or visit the "CURRENT SHOP OFFERINGS" tab to see if a custom item slot is available. The purchase of your spot is a DEPOSIT that is removed from the total cost of your piece. Custom work requires full payment up front to complete. Turnaround is based on the project, material suppliers, and agreed upon date for completion. Dates are subject to change and I will communicate any changes in schedule with you.

 

Existing customers qualify for a layaway program. The layaway program requires a deposit to start work. Then, as payments are made I complete work equal to the value paid towards your total. Layaway programs vary based on project and customer variables.

Q: How much are custom pieces?

​

A: It depends on what you order. Size, complexity, materials, and level of customization all factor into the cost. Rush orders are subject to additional fees, as well as special order materials. Custom tooling charges start at $35/hour. Remember all items are hand cut, dyed, tooled, and sewn, too. You're getting an item that's given all the time and attention a well made heirloom quality piece of functional artwork is worth.

Q: What if I don't like the finished product?

​

A: All designs are approved by the customer before work begins. I will send update photos as the project progresses. ANY APPROVED artwork, hardware, colors, designs, and sizes are considered final once work begins. IF a change must be made and work has already begun, this may result in additional charges or additional time to complete. Generally - once work has begun you are no longer able to make changes. I will, however, work with you as best I can to find an agreeable place for both myself and the customer.

Q: How do I get a refund?

​

A: NO REFUNDS FOR CUSTOM WORK. If you ordered a custom piece, and approved all artwork and materials, a refund will not be issued. Should work have just begun and there is a hardship preventing the customer going forward I will immediately stop work and only refund labor costs. Materials purchased and paid for out of pocket for the customer's project will not be returned. Please - if you're ordering a custom piece do not commit unless you're certain you want to follow through completely.

Q: What if it breaks?

​

A: If your item breaks from normal wear, tear, and use I will work with you to repair the item at no cost. HOWEVER, if the item shows sign of excessive or improper use and abuse the customer may incur costs for the repair. 

​

Q: I want something made quickly - do you offer rush services?

​

A: Yes! If there is time in my schedule to complete your project I will work to get it done for you quickly. Rush orders are charged an additional 20% the total cost of the project for this service.
